Meet Hugo - Husky Guide
I’m a passionate Dutch husky guide with a deep love for my dogs and the art of mushing. My journey started with Angie, my first Siberian Husky, who I brought from Belgium to give her the life she deserved in a snowy landscape. She’s the reason I began my career in mushing. Over the years, I’ve trained and raised my own team, including my main leaders, Hallon and Jovi, who are key to our adventures. I fell in love with the Nordic lifestyle, and now, traveling with my dogs, competing, and sharing the unique experience of Lapland’s wilderness is my life. I’m always excited to meet guests from different cultures, exchange stories, and offer a true insight into the Lapland lifestyle. Whether it’s racing through the snow or teaching the art of mushing, I aim to connect you with the beauty of this land and the incredible bond between musher and dog.

The reason I came to Finland was my love for winter and snow. Then came the dogs into my life and I just wanted to stay.
I am fascinated of the energy our dogs have and the will to run.
For me it realy is a privilege to spend so much time with our amazing dogs and drive through the beautiful finish nature on a sled and listen to the dogs runing, nothing else.

I am a trained animal caretaker and trainer, and I feel fortunate to work with my true passion – huskies. Dogs have always been a part of my life, and caring for their well-being is at the heart of everything I do. I look after our huskies year-round, from puppies to retirees, learning to understand each dog’s unique needs and strengths.
On safaris, I get to share this world with our guests: it’s truly special to see the excitement and strength with which our dogs perform their work. The most rewarding part of my job is watching happy, motivated animals – and being able to share their energy with visitors.
